Hmmm…where to begin? Well first, I guess, welcome back regular readers and for any new readers, welcome to the crazy circus that is The Otter Limits. Before we begin, here is an obligatory photo of one of my cats. This one is Poppy.
Speaking of Poppy, we had a mild health scare with the little girl last weekend. She came into the house limping pretty badly. We got scared thinking that she broke her leg or broke her hip or something. Maybe got hit by a car. We weren’t sure. But one of the other cats attacked her (pack mentality - get rid of the weak) so we took her to the pet ER. After several hours, and been given information that her hip might have been dislocated and would require surgery, we found out that this was not the case. No broken bones, no dislocations, just some soft tissue damage. Poor kid. And we have no idea what happened. Either hit by a car (but that is unlikely because I think she would have been more injured) or hit by something like a ball or a rock, or maybe she fell out of a tree (but I’m not sure about that either because she doesn’t climb trees). Anyway, she was sent home with some various medications and had to stay in the office with me for a few days to keep her away from the other cats to avoid being attacked again. She is still limping but it seems to be getting a little better. Here is another picture of Poppy. This one is from when she was still a kitten (while we were in Michigan).
I don’t really have much else to talk about this week. Not in this little introductory section anyway. Let’s see, Xmas is coming up on us on Monday so there’s that. I’m really not a huge fan of Xmas to be honest. The holiday season just seems too chaotic and gives me anxiety. There are other factors that make me not really appreciate or enjoy the holiday season but I’m not going to get into those here.
This will most likely be the last issue of 2023. Maybe. I dunno.
I’ve got some stuff for you to check out in the regular segments on here this week so there’s that. Is there anything in these newsletters that is missing? That is, something that you’d like to see my talk about? Or is there something in the newsletter that you are tired of seeing? I really would like some feedback on this thing. If you don’t want to comment here, just email me at otter272@gmail.com.

Track of the Week
Rebel Rock Radio was up to no good this week. The shenanigans were in full effect! We talked about a bunch of random nonsense including Batman, favorite Xmas movies, and what 2024 movie releases we are looking forward. Check out the replay of the live stream below or visit us at your favorite audio platform here.
Rebel Rock Radio also launched its first YouTube exclusive episode this week. These episodes are pre-recorded (not live streams) and (as you might guess) will be available on YouTube only. On this first one, I was joined by Spencer to talk about the Chip Zdarsky comic book Batman: The Knight. Check out that video below:
Also, if you are a fan of the movie National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, go check out the latest episode of Dork Wars Live where they take a look back at that classic holiday movie.
I’m still playing through Arkham City. I’m done with the “main” story. You know, the one where you take out [insert villain name here] and save the city (No spoilers). At this point, I’m just goofing around on side missions. Last night, I finished the Azrael and Deadshot side missions and started working on the Hush and Riddler side missions. To be honest, I’m never going to finish the Riddler one. That one is a beast.
I also installed Gotham Knights because it was on Game Pass and started toying with that. I didn’t get very far but so far, I’m not sure how much I’m going to like it. I also re-installed Arkham Knight so I might try another playthrough of that.
Oh! That reminds me. This past Friday, I played D&D in the online Red 5 Tavern group. That’s the one where I’m playing the dark elf assassin (rogue). It was fun as always. You can check out the replay of the live stream on YouTube below:
I don’t really have much to talk about here this week so I’ll just leave you with my top 5 listened to artists for the week (according to Last.fm).
Batman: The Long Halloween (2021) - I’m not sure why it took me so long to watch this. It is one of my favorite Batman story arcs. Maybe it took me so long because of the travesty that the animated version of Hush was. That one was horrible! This one was not as bad. In fact, I would say that this one was actually really good. Maybe not a complete 100% comic book exact adaptation but still pretty good.
Eight Crazy Nights (2002) - Certainly one can’t go a holiday season with watching this heart warming wholesome family holiday movie! LOL!
Rebel Moon (2023) - I watched this on Netflix (obviously) Thursday night. I will leave it there. I’m still pondering it.
Here is this week’s short but sweet pull list:
Darth Vader #41
Doctor Aphra #39
I have been reading a lot of Batman lately. Specifically the Chip Zdarsky (current) run of Batman and the Ram V (current) run of Detective Comics (among other stuff). I also finished that Chip Zdarsky Batman: The Knight book. It is REALLY good. I also read volume 1 and volume 2 of City of Bane by Tom King. It was fine. Nothing against King because he is a good writer. I just wasn’t a huge fan of his Batman run.
I wrote a review of Wonder Woman #1 and Batman: The Knight for The Future of the Force. You can check those out here and here.
This week’s “track” (it’s a full album) came to me via a post I saw on social media from Zach Akenson where he was listing some of his favorite albums of 2023. This one was not on my radar but it turns out that it was a really good one and definitely worth checking out. The album is Nightmare Nights EP by Church Girls. Here you go, give it a listen:
That’s it for this week. Have a happy holiday and a happy weekend and remember to BE MORE KIND!
