Hey there readers! Thanks for coming out and checking out my goofy little newsletter.
I don’t have much to talk about this week. I had to go to urgent care this past Monday so there’s that. I had been coughing quite frequently for almost a week and it was getting on my nerves. I think I might have bruised my ribs from so much coughing so that’s fun. Anyway, I finally got tired of it and went to urgent care and found out that I have bronchitis. Good times. They have been antibiotics and another medication for the cough that had side effects that included severe drowsiness, confusion and hallucinations. I have experienced all three on this medication. Anyway, that was Monday and it is now Friday and I’m still coughing. It sucks. Fuck bronchitis. I know there are other things, illnesses and what not, that are much worse. I could have COVID and that would suck. It could have been a respiratory infection or something like that. So I guess I can be thankful that it was ONLY bronchitis. Anyway, I hope it goes away soon.
This week on Rebel Rock Radio, we talked about the legacy of droids in Star Wars and played tunes from the Hudson Falcons, Exit Angles, and Tiny Stills. On the episode, JD and I went through our 5 favorite droids from Star Wars.
Dave dropped a new episode of One Band 5 Songs this week. This week he discussed the New Jersey band Hudson Falcons.
#NewMusicFriday
There were three new music releases of note this week.
This week’s comic book pull list consisted of Darth Vader #47, Ultimate X-Men #4, and Heir Of Apocalypse #1.
Strangely I haven’t been reading any X-Men this week like I had been. I do have a few X-Men comics that are in my “to read” pipeline though. I also picked up some new ones at the library yesterday. Speaking of the library, here is what I picked up:
I read the collected edition of The Blade. It was a Star Wars The High Republic limited series written by Charles Soule.
Speaking of The High Republic, I also started reading The Fallen Star by Claudia Gray. It was the last adult novel of phase one in the High Republic series.
I didn’t go to the store to play Star Wars this week due to the aforementioned bout with bronchitis. I did however, download the game Star Wars Hunters on our Switch. It seems like a fun enough game but I think I’m going to wait until (if) the game comes out on console before I really get into it. I’m not a big fan of the controls on the Switch.
The new update for Fallout 76 hit this week and I forgot about it. I feel dumb. I’ll make up for it this weekend.
Most of the movies I watched this week were on streaming. I watched, or rather rewatched, the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton. Watching that led me to watch a couple of documentaries. Specifically, NWA and Easy E: Kings of Compton and Biggie: The Life of Notorious B.I.G. Speaking of documentaries, I also watched a Joan Jett documentary called Bad Reputation.
I didn’t watch anything in the theater this week but we (the wife, and youngest child, and I) are planning to go see Inside Out 2 sometime this weekend.
Outside of movies, I started watching the comedy show Brooklyn Nine Nine. It’s an entertaining show. I like it. I’m somewhere in the third season right now.
This week’s track of the week comes from the new Me First and the Gimme Gimmes album that I referenced earlier. It is a cover of the ABBA song “Dancing Queen.” Enjoy.
That’s it for this week. Enjoy your weekend kids and remember to BE MORE KIND!
