And Now a Word From Our Sponsors...
Issue #135: "Last night, Darth Vader came down from planet Vulcan and told me that if I didn't take Lorraine out that he'd melt my brain."
Just kidding folks. I don’t have a sponsor for this goofy thing.
Anyway, welcome to another Monday full of gibberish.
There wasn’t really a lot going on this week other than work, podcasts, watching some TV, playing some video games, and listening to music. So with that in mind, commence the jibber jabber!
There were a ton of good music releases this week.
First of all, Seattle, Washington’s Dead Bars released All Dead Bars Go To Heaven on Iodine Recordings.
Epitaph Records released Costa Mesa, CA alternative band Greer’s Big Smile.
LA-based indie/noise pop outfit Exploding Flowers put out Watermelon/Peacock on Meritorio Records.
Philadelphia’s Japanese Breakfast put out For Melancholy Brunettes (and Sad Women) on Dead Oceans.
Off the beaten path of what I normally listen to….Azshara, a Syracuse, NY-based metalcore put out Ashen Skies on Daze Records.
San Diego post hardcore unit Clikatat Ikatowi put out The Trials and Tribulations Of via Numero Group.
The album Power Sucker was released by Louisville, Kentucky based noise rock band Young Widows on Temporary Residence Ltd.
French shoegaze/indiepop artist My Raining Stars put out Momentum on Shelflife.
Cincinnati, OH-based punk/postpunk band Motorbike released Kick It Over on Feel It Records.
The album Curve by Coming Down, a punk/indie/post hardcore band from Rochester New York, was released on Hex Records.
I got 3 titles on my comic book pull list last week.
Detective Comics #1095
Absolute Batman #6
Absolute Flash #1
Here is some other stuff that I read. There isn’t much of it.
Captain America Vol. 1: Stand by J. Michael Straczynski (I read this last year but I re-read it last week because it the comic we covered in the comic book club this month).
Ultimate X-Men Vol. 1: Fears and and Hates by Peach Momoko
Wednesday evening I went to the theater and saw Black Bag. It wasn’t really what I was expecting. It was a good movie but I also felt the pace was kind of slow and I was expecting a fast paced action spy flick.
I also started watching the Harley Quinn animated series. I’m not sure why I hadn’t already been watching this. I’m glad I started it though. It is hilarious. I just got finished with season one. I still have quite a few seasons to go to get caught up on it.
I had been playing a lot of Cyberpunk 2077 for the past several weeks but once I completely my newest playthrough that included the Phantom Liberty add-on, I decided to move on to something else. So this past weekend, I started a new playthrough of The Outer Worlds. I had previously never played either of the DLCs (Peril on Gorgon and Murder on Eridanos). Mostly because I never bothered to purchase them. I had some money left on an Xbox gift card that I got for Xmas and went ahead and purchased both of them.
On last week’s episode of Rebel Nerd Radio we kicked off our Back to the Future series with a discussion of the first film in the series.
Punk Lotto Pod put out a new episode where they covered the 2006 album The Body, The Blood, The Machine from The Thermals.
This week’s track is a blast from the past. This one comes from the 1993 album Become What You Are by The Juliana Hatfield Three.
That’s it for this week kids. Have a good one. Let me know what’s been going on in your life lately. I feel like I’m shouting into an echo chamber sometimes. I need to see some comments please!!!
Thanks for the shout out!
"My Sister" is a great song!
So far, that Dead Bars album is my favorite record of 2025.
