Another Settlement Needs Your Help!
Issue #82: You know what, Stuart, I like you. You're not like the other People, here, in the trailer park.
Hey readers! Another week has come and gone and can you believe that it’s already March!
I don’t have much to say here in this section. I’ll let the rest of the content speak for itself.
PODCAST STUFF
On this week’s episode of Rebel Rock Radio, we talked about Ghostbusters, cooking (any my lack of skill in that area), shopping lists, and played tunes from FOD, Mammoth Penguins, and Acid Snot! Check out the video below or at our audio platforms by visiting rebelrockradio.com.
I also recorded 2 other Rebel Rock Radio videos. The first one was a YouTube exclusive video where my friend Spencer and I had a short discussion about the Dune 2 movie. You can check that one out here:
The 2nd one was a reaction video to the newest trailer for the Fallout TV show that is coming out next month. I recorded that one with my offspring Blue. Check that one out here:
The guys from Punk Lotto Pod dropped a new episode this week. One this episode, they covered the 1990 Midnight Oil album Blue Sky Mining. Check that one out on Apple Podcasts here:
Speaking of Dune (keep up with me here) another podcast recorded an episode where they discussed Dune. It wasn’t specific to Dune Part 2 but they didn’t talk about that one a little bit. It was mostly about Dune in general (books, movies, etc…). The podcast is called NickFlix. The host has guests on and talks about movies. Check out the Dune episode here:
MUSIC STUFF
What were the first concerts that you went to?
For me, my first concert was Motley Crue. They were touring in support of the Girls, Girls, Girls album. I saw them in a building downtown in Oklahoma City that was called the Myriad. It is where most of the big concerts came through in the 1980s. The building it still there but it hasn’t been called the Myriad in ages. I’m not even sure what they are calling it now or, for that matter, what they are using the building for. It is across the street from the arena where the Oklahoma City Thunder play. I’m not sure what they’re calling that arena now either. I think it might be the Paycom Center. When they first built it I think it was the Ford Center and then it was Chesapeake and it might have been some other names. I dunno. Arenas change their names too many times. Damn corporate sponsorships. Pick a damn name and stick with it. Wrigley Field has been Wrigley Field forever. Fenway Park has been Fenway forever. Why change? Okay, I digress. Back to concerts. So my first concert was Motley Crue. The opening band was Whitesnake.
My first punk concert, however, was, if I’m remembering correctly, Fugazi. It was in Edmond, Oklahoma in a little building. Currently, it is the Edmond Historical Society building. Actually, I think it was the Edmond Historical building back then too. I can’t remember. That was way early 90s. Fugazi were great. I don’t remember who the opening band was. They were touring in support of the Repeater album. Great album. Great show.
Speaking of concerts, I was cleaning up some stuff in my office and found a small ziploc baggie full of old concert tickets. I scanned them and created a photo collage of them.
Also, here are my top 10 listened to artists for the month of February (based on Lastfm).
READING STUFF
This week’s comic book pull list consists of Batman #145 and Ultimate X-Men #1.
I started listening to the audiobook of Dune.
STUFF I WATCHED
I watched Dune Part Two again. This time I went to an IMAX theater. Before it is all said and done, I will probably go to the theater and watch it again. Although there are a lot of good movies coming out this month so I’m not 100% about that.
The wife and I finished the 3rd and final season of Ted Lasso. That show has been added to my list of favorite TV shows. I also finished my rewatch of the Daredevil TV show. I’m really looking forward to the new show that is scheduled to come out next year.
GAMING STUFF
I actually got on the Xbox this week and played some Fallout 76. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten on this game but after watching the trailer for the upcoming TV show I got excited and decided to play some. I didn’t go to the game shop this week because Dave and Darrell (store manager and store owner) were out this week for a convention in Kentucky (I think it was Kentucky).
FOOD STUFF
I went to 2 different Aldi’s locations this week and neither had the crab cakes that I’ve been buying from them recently. They might have stopped selling them. I am very disappointed in this. I wound up going to another grocery store and buying a different brand of crab cakes. I grabbed 2 packages and when I got home, I realized that I had grabbed 1 package of crab cakes and the other package was lobster cakes. I’ve never really been a huge fan of lobster but I will say that I tried the lobster cakes and to be fair they didn’t taste much different than the crab cakes. I guess it wasn’t a major loss after all.
SPORTS STUFF
Liverpool played Nottingham Forrest on Saturday. It went into extra time and Darwin Nunez put a goal in at around the 99 minute mark winning the match for Liverpool 1-0. They played a match on Thursday against Sparta Praha in the Europa League tournament and won 5-1. Their next game is a regular season match against Manchester City on Sunday.
TRACK OF THE WEEK
This week I’ve got one for you from a band from Allentown, Pennsylvania called Pissed Jeans. They released a new album last week called Half Divorced so I’m posting a song from that album. Enjoy!
That is it for this week. Have a great weekend and remember to BE MORE KIND!
