Welcome back loyal (and not so loyal) readers! Sorry it’s taken so long to write another one of these.
It’s been a rough couple of weeks. A family member recently passed away suddenly so the wife and youngest and I spent some time up in Colorado for the funeral and to just hang out with the family a bit. I like spending time in Colorado. I like Colorado in general. I don’t think I’d move there per se. It is pretty expensive there. Although a big part of me is just saying that I wouldn’t move there because I don’t think I want to move again. It’s a painful process. Those of you that have been following this newsletter know what I mean. But yeah, I like Colorado. It’s nice to visit.
Here are some cat pictures for your pleasure:
Oh yeah! Speaking of cats. The twins (Max and Earl) recently had their 2nd birthday.
What else has been going on? I went to a show a couple of weeks ago. I saw Voice of Addiction. They are a band from Chicago that my old band (Get Fired) have done a few shows with. Good group of guys. There were two other bands, both from the local area. Kinda Creepy played first. They are good folk. I’ve known those guys for a long time. After them was The Killings. They are one of my favorite local bands and it’s been a long time since I’ve seen them play live. I keep missing their shows for one reason or another so it would was good to finally get to see them again. Here are some pics from that show:
Let’s see, what else? I really haven’t been doing much else besides work and playing a little Fallout. Most of my week has been spent doing some reading (see below).
Rebel Rock Radio
Wait. Rebel Rock Radio? What is that? Well, since the last time I published one of these, DJ and I decided to go ahead and change the name of the podcast. We have been having trouble with a specific monstrous entity that shall not be named in regards to the name so we decided to change the name as to avoid any further legal troubles.
So anyway, this week, DJ and I talked about the newest episode of The Mandalorian. We discussed what we liked about it, what could have been done better, and what theories we had about the upcoming final episode of the season. We also got into some food talk, specifically talking about dollar menus and frozen pizzas. This weeks’ tunes came from Dead Alright, Big Life, and Quest for Tuna. You can check out the replay of the video here:

Dave did another great episode of One Band 5 Songs about a week ago. He did an episode about the legendary British band Motorhead. It was a great episode. One of my favorites of the podcast. Catch out that episode on Spotify here:
John Wick: Chapter 4 - I enjoyed it. I saw it twice. It’s a pretty long movie. It is really good though. Donnie Yen’s performance was spectacular. Probably my 2nd favorite of the franchise (hard to beat the first one IMHO).
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves - Great movie. A lot of fun. I have seen it 3 times already. Once the Saturday after opening night with my son and son-in-law, the day after that I saw it with my youngest, and over this past weekend saw it once again with my son. I definitely recommend it.
I have been re-reading of bunch of older X-Men stuff and I also decided recently to re-read the House of X/Powers of X series. After that, I am probably going to try and get caught up with the current X-Men series. I joined an X-Men group on Facebook and asked around about which story arcs of the “current” run they considered essential (because I don’t want to read everything). I got a pretty good consensus of what books to read so I have my work cut out for me. I have finished my re-read of HoX/PoX and I completed volume 1 and 2 of the Jonathan Hickman X-Men run. While I was at it, I read a couple of issues of the “current” X-Force run.
I’m also behind on my new stuff. I have quite a stack sitting next to me in my office that I need to get caught up on too.
This week’s new comics for me included:
Doctor Aphra #30
Nocterra #13
I’ve been listening to a lot of random stuff this week so for this week’s track of the week I’m posting a link to one of my Spotify playlists. Specifically, the “Tunes of 2023” playlist. It’s basically just a list of new stuff that has been coming out over the course of 2023 that I like. So here you go. Enjoy!
Well, that’s it for this week. Have a good weekend and remember to BE MORE KIND!
