I didn’t write anything last week because I really haven’t had anything to say. All I really have it these segment things. Podcast Stuff, Movie Stuff, Reading Stuff, etc…… I don’t really have anything to say today either but I wanted to at least throw down all of that other stuff.
Sorry for the lack of content. The title might seem pretty random and, in some ways, it is. It does have hit home for me these days though. I don’t really want to get into it though.
Rebel Rock Radio
Last week, we discussed the idea of whether or not we are alone in the universe. We talked about aliens in pop culture, that is, aliens that appear in movies, television, etc… We also played tunes from Raisin Awareness, Grumpster, and Get Fired. It was a fun episode.

Punk Rock and Pinfalls
Rev and I decided to try out doing a live episode this week. We were joined by Justin (Punk Lotto Pod, former co-host with me of Around the Ring) and talked mostly about the Forbidden Door pay-per-view between AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling. We played some cool tunes by the bands Goodbye Sunshine, Dion Warlocke, The Slobberknockers, and Dead Pioneers. You can check out the replay of the video below or listen to the audio by going to our website and clicking on whatever option you prefer.
Speaking of Justin, this week, on his podcast Punk Lotto Pod, they talked about the 1990 Pixies album Bossanova. Check it out on Spotify here:
Recently, I started watching the MCU movies in timeline order. That is where the movies fit in the timeline. For example, Captain America: The First Avenger took place in the 40s so, even though the movie came out after Iron Man, it actually took place decades prior. Make sense? Good. So thats what I have been watching as far as movies go. Last night I watched Thor: The Dark World so that’s where I’m at in the timeline. The Dark World, by the way, is one of my least favorite MCU movies.
I’ll get into comic books here in a moment but first, I read the book Mox by Jon Moxley. This is a book that I actually bought back when it first came out in November 2021. I just never got around to reading it. I finally decided to read it. However, although I do own the physical book, I listened to the audio book version of it. Go figure. On the plus side, the author himself read the book to me.
I also started (again) reading (again though, listening to the audio book) a book called Corporate Rock Sucks: The Rise and Fall of SST Records by Jim Ruland. This is a book that I actually started reading last year (prior to my move to Michigan). I had checked it out from the library but by the time it was time for me to head up to Michigan, I hadn’t finished it so I had to return the book. So anyway, I found a copy of the audio book on the Libby website so I started reading it. I couldn’t remember how far along I had been when I was reading it previously so I just started back from the beginning.
On top of that, I started reading another book called Lion’s Pride: The Turbulent History of New Japan Pro Wrestling by Chris Charlton. This one is an actual (digital) book, not an audio book. I saw this somewhere and thought it would be interesting to read the history of that wrestling promotion. Unfortunately, I not only could not find an audio book version. I also could not find a copy of the book at my local library. So I ended up buying the book on Kindle. I just started that one yesterday so I’m not very far along into it. So far, it’s pretty interesting though.
Here’s this week’s comic book pull list:
Heralds of Apocalypse #1
The Riddler: Year One #5
Doctor Aphra #33
This week, I’m going to go over this week’s listening habits. The image below shows the top 5 artists I have been listening to according to Last.fm. Keep in mind that Last.fm does NOT pull from my listening habits on Apple Music. Just Spotify. So although not completely accurate it is still (mostly) a good representation.
The Pixies makes sense. You can think the aforementioned podcast from Punk Lotto Pod for that one. After listening to that episode, I got into a huge Pixies kick. I love the Pixies. They are one of my top 6 favorite bands. The Bad Religion also makes sense because they are often in my top rotation. The only one on this list that doesn’t make sense to me is #5. I don’t really remember listening to any Nirvana this week. Although, looking at the full list on Last.fm again, I notice that the #6 and the #7 spots have just as many listens as the Nirvana slot does so it seems they just listed those 3 in alphabetical order. The #6 and #7, by the way, were Rage Against the Machine and The Bouncing Souls (both of which I DO remember listening to this week).
