Diabetes Sucks...And the Revival of a Long Dead Podcast
Issue #53: Hey Peter Man! Check out Channel 9!
Greetings readers!
If you hadn’t noticed, it has been a long time since I’ve published something here. To be honest, I really haven’t been feeling it. And if I’m being perfectly honest, I’m really not feeling it today either but I figured I’d give the half dozen or so of you that read this an update.
As you may know…or may not know…I don’t know if you actually read this or not…I have diabetes. Diabetes sucks. A few weeks ago I hadn’t been feeling well and it turned out that my blood sugar levels were spiking really bad. Really bad. The reason is because we had to change my medication because the medication I was on got too expensive (medical insurance is a scam by the way) and the new medication wasn’t doing its job. Long story short, I found out from my insurance company that the medication the co-pay on the medication I was on previously (that was working) had decreased to an amount that I could afford and I got back on that. So the levels are going back to my normal and I’m beginning to feel better. Although not 100% yet.
Other than that, nothing else has really been going on.
By the way, I’m trying out some different banners for the different “segments” on this newsletter. If you like them, let me know. If you don’t like them, let me know. If you are willing to make me some better ones, let me know. If you think these banners are completely unnecessary, let me know.
Rebel Rock Radio
DJ and I were joined by Chantal of the Pop My Culture podcast this week to talk about the 1999 comedy movie Office Space. It was a fun time talking about one of our favorite movies. The tunes that we played were from Versus the World, Molly Ringworm, and The Penske File.
You can check out the replay of the video below or check out the audio at our different platform at https://bio.link/rebelrockradio.
Also in podcast news, I revived an older podcast that I had been doing called Punk Rock and Pinfalls. It was a podcast where I talked about professional wrestling as well as talked about and played tunes from punk rock artists. I quit doing it because I was hosting it by myself and that got to be boring. I can’t stand talking to myself. So I found someone willing to co-host the show (his name is Rev) with me and we relaunched it. So far, we have recorded two episodes. You can find those episodes by going to https://bio.link/punkrockandpinfalls.
This week I’ve only watched two movies.
This movie was not great. I went in with pretty low expectations to begin with so, honestly, I was not disappointed. In my humble opinion, Ezra Miller (aside from the fact that he is horrible human being) was not a good pick from the casting crew to play Barry Allen/The Flash. He wasn’t good in Dawn of Justice, he wasn’t good in Justice League and he wasn’t good in this stand alone film. And let’s be real. Did this version of the Flash REALLY need a stand alone movie? I think not. It was kind of cool to see Michael Keaton in the Bat suit again but he didn’t have enough screen time to save this movie. I liked Sasha Calle’s iteration of Supergirl but, again, she didn’t get nearly enough screen time to make the movie worth while. Really, for me, the best thing about the movie was the cameo at the very end of the movie by another version of Bruce Wayne. This movie just isn’t worth your time.
This was a documentary is on Disney Plus and chronicles the life of the iconic comic book creator. I thought it was really good. I enjoyed learning more about the guy who is responsible for creating (or at the very least co-creating) some of the most iconic super heroes in all of history. Spider-Man. Iron Man. Thor. The Hulk. Ant-Man. Black Panther. Daredevil. The Fantastic Four. Doctor Strange. The X-Men. Those were all him. And the list is much larger. So if you are a fan of Mr. Lee or a fan of comic books in general, this is worth your time. Go check it out.
Remember that X-Men reading adventure I was on? Yeah, I finished that weeks ago. After I was done with that, I started working on getting caught up with all of the newer stuff that I had been ignoring because of all of the X-Men reading I had been doing. For the most part, I am caught up but there are a few things that I haven’t finished reading. I also started reading the current Chip Zdarsky run of Batman and I’m caught up with that.
Actually, here, if you want to keep up to date with what I’m up to in the reading department, go to my Goodreads account.
This week’s pull list was very minimal. I got Ultimate Invasion #1 (which is part of a new mini-series), X-Force #41, and issue #1 of a new Incredible Hulk series.
For this week’s track of the week, I’m going to recommend an album that was released today. In fact, I’m listening to it now. It comes from a band based out of Melbourne, Australia called Cable Ties. I hope you enjoy it.
