Welcome to another Monday readers.
Can you believe that it’s already December! This year has gone by pretty quick. At least for me. I guess that comes with aging. Getting old sucks.
No update on the job front.
Outside of looking for work and reading comic books, my week was mostly uneventful. I mean, also outside of the Thanksgiving stuff. Wednesday evening, we went to my in-laws and ate hamburgers. On Thanksgiving itself we went to my mom’s house. I ate way too much and sat around watching a couple of vampire movies that my niece had never seen before but wanted to (see below in the stuff I watched section).
I just realized that I’ve been doing this goofy little newsletter thing for almost 3 years now. My first issue, not including my introductory post where I said I was going to start this thing up soon was my Top 20 Records of 2021 post.
Well, that is all I have to say to start this thing off. On to the “good” stuff.
Unfortunately, there weren’t any new releases from last week that are worth mentioning. However, we are close to the end of the year so you will be seeing an end of the year list pop up in the next couple of weeks.
Also, since this is the first issue of this thing for the month of December, here are my favorite albums that were released in November:
The Costanzas - Kiss of the Scorpion
Bad Astronaut - Untethered
American Thrills - Milestone
Body Count - Merciless
Last week’s comic book pull list was a big one.
Absolute Wonder Woman #2
Batman: The Last Halloween #3
Detective Comics #1091
Justice League Unlimited #1
Nightwing #120
Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku - Republic Under Siege #2
Superman #20
West Coast Avengers #1
Batman: The Brave and the Bold #19
Here is a list of some of the other comics that I read last week:
Superman: The Rebirth Deluxe Edition Book 1 by Peter J. Tomasi
Absolute Power #1-4 by Mark Waid
DC All In Special #1 by Joshua Williamson and Scott Snyder
Justice League Dark Vol. 1: The Last Age of Magic by James Tynion IV
Titans Vol. 1: Out of the Shadows by Tom Taylor
My youngest and I went to the theater last night and watched Wicked. She really liked it. For me it was just okay.
I rewatched a bunch of stuff on streaming.
On Rebel Rock Radio, we did an episode where we listed our top 5 favorite Jedi and Sith characters. This week, we host our annual Winter Shenanigans episode where we will discuss, among many other things, whether or not Die Hard is a Xmas movie. Where do you stand on that one?
My friend Nikki dropped a new episode of her podcast Everything and the Kitchen Sink last week. It’s a music podcast. She played some cool stuff on it.
The boys over at Punk Lotto Pod dropped a new episode where they talked about the 1977 debut album from The Dead Boys, Young, Loud, and Snotty.
This week’s track comes from an EP called Odes by Carson McHone. It was released in July. The song is a cover of what I thought was an Ex-Void song which actually is a cover of an Arthur Russell song.
That’s it for this week. Have a great one and remember to Be More Kind!
