Greetings readers. It’s Monday again.
This week’s issue is going to be kind of short. It has been a rough week and I wasn’t really feeling up to writing much.
I’m not going to bother talking about last week’s election results. I don’t get into politics on here. The main reason that it was a rough week for me personally is because I was laid off from my job. The company “eliminated” my position. I have my speculation on why my position was eliminated but I won’t get into that here. The main thing being I am currently unemployed. This is the first time I have been out of work in many many years. I don’t like being unemployed. I mean, nobody does really? Being out of work sucks. I’m looking for work of course. I signed up for unemployment benefits. Hopefully I will find work soon.
There was not a lot of stuff released last week that really got my attention. Here are a couple of things.
The Costanzas - Kiss of the Scorpion. One of my favorite bands from the local area. They haven’t put out anything new in a while so I was glad to see this.
Bad Astronaut - Untethered. This is a collection of older Bad Astronaut material that was stripped down to piano, vocals, and cello.
Here are my top 5 listened to artists from last week.
As far comic book pull lists go, last week was a big one. Quite a few #1s in this batch.
Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku - Insurgency Rising #4
X-Men #7
Batgirl #1
Negasonic Teenage Warhead #1
Absolute Superman #1
Batman #154
Birds of Prey #15
In regards to other reading, I started another large reading adventure. I started a re-read of the Knightfall saga. I read a chunk of that when it originally came out. So I started at the beginning of course with Batman Knightfall Vol. 1 by Chuck Dixon.
Another thing I wanted to add to this section this week was a list of of comic book related Substacks that I subscribe to.
I didn’t go to the theater last week. There was nothing out that really interested me. I did watch a couple of Batman animated movies over the week though. I watched Son of Batman and Batman vs Robin.
On last week’s episode of Rebel Rock Radio, we dove into the Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars TV series, talked about about JD’s Halloween adventure in Salem, and jammed to tunes from Junior Varsity, Kill Lincoln, and Overrider.
Dave dropped an episode of One Band 5 Songs where he talked about the music of Husker Du.
The guys at Punk Lotto Pod also dropped a new episode. This time they covered the 1983 Minor Threat album Out of Step.
This is a song I listened to quite a bit last week. It is from Frank Turner’s 2018 album Be More Kind and the inspiration for the title of this week’s newsletter.
That is it for this week. Hopefully, next week I will be feeling more up to doing a better job of this.
Have a good week and remember to BE MORE KIND!
Best of luck with the job hunting Steve!
