Today is the kittens’ (Poppy and Andor) first birthday!
That’s it. That’s my message to you this week. That’s all I got.
Just kidding. Although, it’s not far from the truth. I really don’t have anything to say. Well, I have a lot to say but not anything that I want to put out on the internet. If you know how to contact me and are really curious, hit me up.
But to be serious, I want to thank everybody that pops in here and reads this utter randomness that I put out week to week. Even when I disappear from here for weeks at a time, you still take time out of your day and see what lame stuff I have to talk about every time I put something out. I just want to say how much I appreciate it.
Although I don’t have much to say, I do want to mention a couple of things (besides the kittens birthday). I have been thinking for a little while about taking some history classes just for the hell of it. Because I’m a history nerd. I checked out a few of the local colleges and I can’t seem to find any that offer history classes in the evenings (or online) so I started searching for alternate routes. I wound up founding a website that offers FREE online courses in a bunch of different subjects, including history. So I browsed through all of their history options and enrolled in a self paced course in Russian history. The catch, of course, is that I don’t receive any college credit for it. That doesn’t really bother me though. I am just wanting to scratch that history nerd itch. Once I get started with that course, I’ll try and keep you up to date with how that is going.
The other thing I have been thinking about lately is my lack of musical artistic output lately. I have been trying to put a band together but that has not produced anything yet. So I have been thinking about picking up the bass guitar again and trying to find a band that needs a bass player. It has been a while since I have played bass in a band so I need to knock the rust off. Plus, if I do wind up playing in a band, I will need to find myself an old cheap bass amp. I have a guitar amp but no bass amp. I’m not going to make any purchase decisions though unless I find a band to play with. Just thoughts though. I dunno. Might be a good thing. I’ll try and keep you updated on all of that too.
I am actually taking a sabbatical from podcasting right now. Trying to figure some things out and get my head back on straight. So for now, DJ is running Rebel Rock Radio solo during my absence. This week, he did a post 4th of July hangout and talked about a bunch of random stuff. He talked about hot dogs and brats and the various topping that people like on them. He talked about overload in social media and he talked about the lack of originality in Hollywood. He also played tunes from Lone Wolf, Diesel Boy, and Strike Twelve. Check out the replay of the video below or check out our various audio only platforms at our bio link.
I haven’t been to see a movie in the theater since The Flash. There are a couple out right now that I am planning to see but I just haven’t gotten around to it. There are also a couple coming out later this month that I plan on going to see.
As far as movies in general goes though, I’m still working on my timeline order viewing of the MCU films. As of this writing, I have finished Ant-Man (2015).
I finished the audio book of Corporate Rock Sucks. Here is my brief review of that on Goodreads. I’m still working on that history of New Japan Pro Wrestling book (Lion’s Pride) but that one is going to take a while because it is a physical read and when it comes to physically reading a book, I take forever. Other than that, I’ve been working my way through Al Ewing’s Immortal Hulk run.
Here is this week’s comic book pull list:
X-Men #24
Spider-Man #10
Daredevil #13
Star Wars #36
I thought I’d add a list to this week’s rotation. Here are my 4 favorite albums that were released last month (June 2023):
Yesterday, I discovered a new band that consists of
Alyssa Currie of Attic Salt (I really like Attic Salt) and a guy named Luke McNeill who I think might be the drummer of The Copyrights although I haven’t been able to confirm that yet. Anyway, they put out an EP in February titled EP1. You can give that a listen on Spotify below or listen to it on their Bandcamp site.
That’s all I got this week folks. Thanks for coming. Be More Kind.
