Hello again faithful (or not so faithful) readers!
I don’t have much to say this week. I’m still getting over being sick from last week and haven’t had a lot going on. I’m mostly better but I still have some congestion and, partly because I’m getting older and partly because of my diabetes, my body is exhausted from being sick.
Oh yeah, I do have one bit of news to mention. I recently joined a gym again. I need to exercise to not only lose some weight but help keep that diabetes/blood sugar at bay. I was taking walks every now and then but that isn’t doing the trick. Anyway, I found a gym that is open 24 hours near me so that I can go at whatever time I want. I have been there a few times. I’ve been spending some time on cardio mostly but I’ve also been hitting the weights a bit. Trying to mix things up and what not. I hope it does the trick.
New Music!
There were a few albums released this week that were of particular interest to me. Here is what I’ve got for you this week:
Fastbacks - For What Reason!
Lovebites - Lovebites EP II
Entropy - Dharmakaya
Even though this is the last newsletter of the month, I am going to wait until next week to talk about my favorite releases of the month. I will, however, provide you with the list of my most listened to artists for the month (according to Last.fm). Here are my top 10:
This week’s pull list was packed with X-Men related stuff.
X-Force #2
X-Men #3
NYX #2
Ahsoka #2
I finished Mutant Genesis and then read Brood Trouble in the Big Easy (which was a crossover between X-Men and Ghost Rider). I also read the trade of Legion Quest. This trade actually covers more than just the Legion Quest storyline itself (which is the main reason I read it). I also started Vol 1 of Captain America (Stand) by J. Michael Straczynski. As far as comic book reading goes, I think I might re-read Age of Apocalypse next.
I finished reading Revan this week. It was good. I really should read more Legends novels. My next audiobook adventure is The Battle of Jedha by George Mann.
The only movie I saw in the theater this week was a theatrical re-release of The Batman. They are gearing things up for The Penguin tv show. I’m looking forward to it.
I did a re-watch of all of the X-Men movies last weekend. I watched all of them except for New Mutants. I even watched that travesty that was Dark Phoenix. I didn’t watch New Mutants because I just didn’t get around to it. I did this ranking on Letterboxd a while back. After my rewatch, nothing has changed on it.
I bought a used laptop last weekend. I bought it for a specific purpose. So that I could play Star Wars The Old Republic on it. I love that game. I couldn’t play it previoiusly because it won’t run on my Mac. So I found a used laptop that had sufficient specifications that would allow me to play SWTOR. Since then that is all I have been playing. For those of you that are familiar with the game, I have 4 different characters going right now. I’m playing a sith warrior, a sith inquisitor, a republic trooper, and a jedi knight. I have been playing those storylines. I haven’t been playing any of the “new” storylines. Eventually I will get there.
I also had Star Wars Outlaws on pre-order (I did not opt for the early release) so that one is ready to install on my Xbox. I will very likely be starting that this weekend. I’m looking forward to it.
Behold the glory that is taco truck tacos!
Tuesday before the Rebel Rock Radio livestream I went to a new taco truck and grabbed some grub. Well, new to us anyway. We had never been to this one before. Our favorite taco truck vanished into thin air so we’ve been looking for a new one. I have heard about this one from a few people and I always drive by it when I go to the comic book shop. I decided to go ahead and give it a try. I really liked it.
Also, a few days ago, the kid and I went to a local bar and grill that we had previously visited a few weeks ago (see R.I.P. Murphy) called Roosters. I wanted to check it out again and see if it was just as good as I thought it was the first time. I ordered something different than the first time of course because I wanted to make sure that they aren’t a one hit wonder type of place. Anyway, as an appetizer we got garlic cheese curds. They were delicious. I ordered their fish and chips and I liked them quite a bit as well. In fact, I wasn’t able to finish them so I took them home and put them in the airfryer yesterday and they were just as good. I will definitely be going back to this place again.
This week on Rebel Rock Radio we talked about the path of a Jedi (from initiate to master) and played tunes from Massive Nightmares, The Dumpies, and Mugger.
Dave dropped a new episode of One Band 5 Songs this week. This week, he covered the Philly-based band The Loved Ones.
This week’s track of the week is the opening tune from the new Fastbacks album. Enjoy.
That is it for this week. Have a great weekend kids!
