Greetings faithful readers!
If you follow me on social media, you might find that a lot of the stuff I write here is a recap of the random nonsense that I talk about on there.
I’m going to have to warn you ahead of time that this week’s issue is very short and simple. I don’t have a lot to talk about so most of is really just recap from social media. Just new releases, what I’ve read this week, and some podcast recaps.
Oh yeah, I started up a new Substack. I wanted to keep it separate from this one for reasons. It is essentially a podcast to Substack conversation. I decided, at least for now, that I didn’t want to do a music podcast anymore so I am doing my Radio Unfriendly music stuff as a blog/newsletter instead. I might start doing the podcast again sometime but for now I just don’t have the time or desire for it. If you would like to subscribe to my music Substack called Radio Unfriendly you can do that here!
But anyway…without further ado…
Here is some stuff that was released this week that I found interesting.
Mediocre - Growth Eater
October Drift - Blame the Young
Semantics - I Feel It All At Once
The Alarm - Music Television
And here’s what I’ve been listening to this week. It’s my top 5 listened to artists according to Last.fm.
No big surprises there except for Alkaline Trio in the #2 spot. I didn’t realize that I had listened to so much Alkaline Trio this week.
This week’s comic book pull list was small. I only got 2 books.
Uncanny X-Men #3
Ahsoka #3
I did a lot of other comic book reading this week.
Transformers Vol. 1 by Daniel Warren Johnson
Duke Vol. 1 by Joshua Williamson
Birthright Vol. 1 by Joshua Williamson
Grim Vol. 1 by Stephanie Phillips
Joe Fixit by Peter David
Red Atlantis by Stephanie Phillips
Avengers Vol. 1 by Jed MacKay
Star Wars Vol. 8 by Charles Soule
Other reads:
I am still working on the audiobook of The New Dawn by John Jackson Miller. I’m not sure why it is taking me so long to get through this thing. I’m a little over halfway through it.
This week on Rebel Rock Radio we talked about a bunch of random Star Wars nonsense such as collectibles, new upcoming Star Wars content, and video games such as Star Wars Outlaws. It was an shenanigans filled episode that featured tunes from The Shitdels, Wrong War, and The Bad Ups.
We also recorded another session of our Star Wars TTRPG - Twilight of Viconta. You have to be a patron to watch this but remember, becoming a patron of Rebel Rock Radio is ONLY $2 a month.
You can view the 2nd episode of our campaign here!
Dave dropped another episode of One Band 5 Songs this week. This time around he covered 5 classic songs from the UK band The Smiths.
He also dropped a bonus episode that featured Justin of Punk Lotto Pod where they discussed the discography of the band Iron Chic.
This week’s track comes from one of this week’s new releases. The Alarm put out an album called Music Television which mostly consists of cover songs from the golden age of MTV. Here is a cover of the very first song to ever be featured as a video on MTV.
That is all I have for you this week kids. Stay safe. Have a great weekend and remember to BE MORE KIND!
