Hey readers. Here we are at another Monday.
If you didn’t already know this, I have been out of town (out of state technically) for almost the entire week and really haven’t been paying attention to stuff. We left last Sunday morning and spent the week with my daughter the grandkids. We got back on Saturday morning. It was a good trip. Went to Michigan. Hit a couple of the places up there where I actually like the food.
First, there was Founders, my favorite pub and grill in Grand Rapids. I met with my buddy Drew up there and had lunch. It was a good time. Their menu has changed significantly. They don’t have near as many sandwiches on the menu as they used to so that was a little disappointing. But I had a baked cod sandwich and it was really good. I forgot to take a photo of the sandwich but here’s a picture of the inside of the place.
I also had breakfast with the family at a place called Mr. B’s Pancake House. I like it there. I was glad we went. I had eggs, bacon, biscuits & gravy, and American fries (home fries).
Sometime during the week we also made a stop at the comic book shop in Grand Rapids that I really like. It’s called The Vault at Midnight. I forgot to take pictures.
There wasn’t anything that jumped out at me as far as new releases are concerned but to be honest, I really didn’t pay much attention to what came out Friday. There were a few things that I noticed but I wasn’t interested in them. But I’ll go ahead and post my top 10 listened to artists for the week here.
Also, go check out my other Substack Radio Unfriendly. I’ve been doing a series over there called Cover to Cover where I discuss different iterations of songs. So far I’ve done three.
The only comic book that came out this week and was on my pull list was Absolute Wonder Woman #3. Hopefully I will find a job soon and I can get my pull list back up to a respectable number.
I didn’t really do any reading last week while I was on my trip.
In the theater on Saturday afternoon, I watched A Complete Unknown. It’s the James Mangold biopic about Bob Dylan that stars Timothée Chalamet. I liked it quite a bit. Then again, I’m a big fan of biopics. Especially musical biopics.
Do you remember me talking about a local eatery here in Norman called Roosters? Certainly I’ve mentioned it on here before. Well, unfortunately, that place closed down recently. I am disappointed. The reasons that I read are because the place was never busy enough but most of the times I went there were a lot of people in there so I don’t know about that excuse. I also heard that the owners weren’t paying their staff enough and a bunch of their wait staff and kitchen staff quit. But that is based on hearsay so I don’t know. Too bad though. I really liked that place.
The wife and I tried out a new pizza place last night. New to us that is. It is in the Bricktown area of downtown Oklahoma City and is called Rendezvous Pizza. The pizza itself was tasty but really thin. Granted, I ordered a thin crust New York style pizza but it was really really thin. The restaurant also offers Detroit style so I think if we go again I’ll try that one out.
Speaking of pizza….while we were in Michigan we had all planned to go visit my favorite pizza place in the area called Bellacino’s. We wound up not going because I decided that I did not want to be disappointed and there is always potential for that happening. I wanted to keep my happy memory of the place.
Rebel Rock Radio did not have a live stream last week. We don’t be streaming this week either due to the new year’s holiday. We will be back next week to talk about Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
There is, however, a couple of new Batcave videos up on the YouTube channel that was previously only on the Patreon.
First there is our review of Absolute Batman #1:
And then our discussion about Batman: Noel:
This week I’m doing some shameless self promotion. Here’s a song from the last album/EP that Get Fired recorded. The album is called Engineers of Mediocrity. I hope you like it. It is one of my favorites from the album.
