Hey folks. Here I am again. There hasn’t been a whole lot going on this week.
I’m going to try out a sort of stripped down version of this newsletter this week and see what kind of feedback, if any I get on it. Honestly, I don’t expect to get any because I have really only gotten feedback from a couple of people about this thing in general. For those of you that actually read this thing, thanks.
PODCAST STUFF
On this week’s episode of Rebel Rock Radio, we covered the Star Wars book From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi. We also talked about snorting coffee and receiving coffee enemas (you had to be there) in addition to playing tunes from The Complicators, Boss Battle, and Ghost Work. Here’s the replay of the live stream on YouTube:
And as always, if you prefer to just listen to the audio, check out the various audio platforms that are available at www.rebelrockradio.com.
I checked out a music podcast that I haven’t listened to previously. It is called The Punk Roquette Show. On this podcast’s recent episode, host Emilie Plamondon had a discussion with Sarah Lynn, a 12 year old punk drummer. Check out that episode on Spotify here:
MUSIC STUFF
Not much to talk about this week. We didn’t have practice Sunday because the bass player was out of town visiting family.
Earlier this week, I did a couple more of my top 5 albums things. Tuesday, I did one for the Ramones and Wednesday I did one for Alkaline Trio. You can check out those projects on my Instagram. I have a few more in my pipeline but not sure when I will do them.
READING STUFF
Here was this week’s comic book pull list:
Ghost Machine (one shot)
Superior Spider-Man #3
Thrawn: Alliances #1
I started a re-read of the 1980s Marvel series Secret Wars and I’m planning to start reading something I was recently introduced to called Skull Island: Birth of Kong. In addition, I’m also still working on my read through of the current Zeb Wells of Amazing Spider-Man.
I also started the audiobook of the Dark Disciple Star Wars novel.
GAMING STUFF
Due to weather conditions, the game shop wasn’t open on Monday so I didn’t get to play the Star Trek RPG so that was kind of a bummer. I did, however, play D&D last Friday with the Red 5 Tavern. You can check out the replay of that live stream here on YouTube:
I also got on the Xbox a little bit this week and played some Starfield. I also started a new build on Fallout New Vegas. Other than that, pretty uneventful in the gaming world this week.
STUFF I WATCHED
I.S.S. - I saw this one at that new theater that opened up in town. The theater was fine. Nice seating and popcorn was good. I am not crazy about their app. Also, my only option for drinking was a bottle of water. While that is better for me, I’m not crazy about the experience of popcorn and water. Why was that my only option? Because I don’t drink soda. At my regular theater, they have one of those freestyle machines and I have options such as tea and lemonade. Overall, I’ll probably stick with my AMC theater. Oh, the movie. Eh, it was mediocre.
Godzilla Minus One - The black and white version came to my theater so I had to watch this one again. I think the movie is even better in black and white!
Aside from movies, I’m still working on my watch through of Star Trek Voyager. I’m somewhere in the 2nd season. I’ve also started a rewatch of The Bad Batch to prepare myself for the new season that is coming out next month.
TRACK OF THE WEEK
Today’s track is the opening track from the new Alkaline Trio that just dropped today. The album is called Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs.
That’s it for this week. Enjoy your weekend and remember to BE MORE KIND!
