Welcome to another edition (sort of) of The Otter Limits readers!
It’s been a weird couple of weeks and my routine is totally out of whack so I haven’t had the time (or the desire for that matter) to sit down and write one of these. Even with writing this, it will be a little different. I think.
Anyway, so the saga of the call center has come to an end. I don’t work there anymore. I’m not going to get into why so let’s just leave it there. Point being, I was completely unemployed again but not for too terribly long. I did wind up taking a part time job delivering pizza. I’ve been that for a little over a week now. Job-wise, it’s much better than the call center. I get to just drive around and listen to music in my car and take food to people. It’s part time though so that’s not great. And the pay itself isn’t great. Even with tips I don’t think I’m making as much as I was at the call center. But it’s something and I’m still looking for other full time work.
On that note, the sudden out of job status, and the fact that I haven’t been able to find full time work in my “regular” field led me to reexamine the idea of going back to school to learn something new. I know I have mentioned this on here before. I’ve gone back and forth with the idea but this time is different. My current status really pushed me over the edge and made me pull the trigger. On Tuesday, I started online classes in learning how to do cybersecurity. That program lasts until January so once it is done, I shouldn’t have too much of a problem finding work. I hope.
So that is life right now. Like I said, my routine is really out of whack. I don’t have a regular work schedule. I just come in when I get scheduled. Plus, I have class twice a week that is mandatory to attend and then on top of that, I have homework and study time that needs to be completed. So, to be real, I don’t really have a set schedule right now. It’s weird.
As far as new releases for the week go, you can read about those on my newly established column (I’ve done two of them so far) called Needle Drop Friday:
I also thought I’d go ahead and list off my favorite music releases for the month of August since the month is almost complete. On that note, I can’t believe that it’s almost September already. Anyway, in the first half of the month of August there weren’t a substantial amount of album releases that really blew my non-existent hair back. There were some decent ones but nothing really outstanding. It got better as the month progressed though. So anyway, here are my five favorite albums that were released in August:
Superchunk - Songs in the Key of Yikes
Jobber - Jobber to the Stars
The Planet Smashers - On the Dancefloor
The Goo Goo Dolls - Summer Anthem
The Hives - The Hives Forever Forever The Hives
Due to the fact that my schedule is out of whack, I really haven’t been doing any reading this week. Like at all. However, here is this past week’s comic book pull list. I don’t work today so I might squeeze in some time to read these.
Immortal Legend Batman #1
Star Wars Hyperspace Stories: Codebreaker #3
Star Wars Doctor Aphra: Chaos Agent #3
I’m not doing an on screen segment this time around because I didn’t go to the theater to see anything and I haven’t really been watching any TV. I’d really like to get caught up on Strange New Worlds and Alien Earth but until I get some sort of resemblance of a routine down, I probably won’t be watching any TV.
I haven’t done one of these segments in a long time so I figured I’d let you know that…well, at least for a few days, I had been playing some Skyrim lately. I’m not sure what gave me the idea to start playing Skyrim again but I started a new playthrough. I forgot how much I really like that game. There is so much to do in that game. I ran across side quests that I’ve never seen before. And I have completed the game at least 2 or 3 times. But alas, once I started classes, I haven’t had time for that either.
I was able to squeeze in some Rebel Nerd Radio time this week. We talked about the history of the Millennium Falcon.
Well, that’s really all I’ve got for this issue. I haven’t got a lot of time to be doing any writing but I did what I could. Have a great weekend and remember to BE MORE KIND!
You should try UberEats, or some of those other delivery places. They make more than your local pizza delivery guy. Also look into VEYO. They take people to & from their medical appointments. I do that on my spare time when I feel like it or even Instacart, I do that too.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!
