Hey readers, how’s it going this week? If you are wondering, that is Leia laying down on my lap. Every time I sit on the couch, she jumps up on my lap and lays down on me. Such a daddy’s girl.
Not much going on this week so this week’s newsletter will be a short one. Real quick though, an update on the coffee misadventures. We bought a new coffee maker the day after the replacement broke. Different brand though. We are done with that brand we were using. Never again! The cool thing about the new one we bought is, for the first time in a long time, we have a coffee maker with a timer so I can program it to have the coffee made by the time I wake up. So glorious!
And another lovers day (aka Valentines Day) has come and gone. The wife and I really don’t do Valentines Day. We did go out to eat but not on Valentines Day. We went out to our favorite Mexican place the night before (avoid the crowds).
Also, I decided to start watching football (aka soccer) again. I’m going to start following the Premier League. Hmmm…instead of explaining it, I’ll copy a post from Facebook that I put up earlier this week.
PODCAST STUFF
This week we did our pre-Valentines Day special in celebration of the romance of Star Wars. We talked about the Super Bowl, soccer, more coffee misadventures, and played music from Broadway Calls, Cherym, and The Disassociates! Check out the replay of the live stream on YouTube.
Or check out the audio version of the episode on Apple Podcasts.
I discovered a few new podcasts this week. I’m going to mention 3 of them. They are all football (soccer) related.
First is Football, Beer & Punk Rock Podcast. On their most recent episode, they did an interview with Rev from The Drowns.
The second one is a podcast specific to the Liverpool FC club called Walk On. Their newest episode was talking mostly about the guy that might become the new coach for the team.
Last one is called Blood Red. It is also specific to Liverpool FC. Their newest episode is also about the potential new coach for the team (that is big in the news right now if you hadn’t guessed it).
MUSIC STUFF
I don’t have much to say here this week. My band Get Fired has a show this upcoming Tuesday so there’s that.
Also, here’s my top 10 listened to artists for the last week (according to Last.fm):
READING STUFF
Here is this week’s comic book pull list:
Batman #143
Darth Vader #43
Superior Spider-Man #4
I finally started reading the Bendis run of Daredevil. Additionally, earlier this week I re-read Frank Miller’s The Man Without Fear. That is such a good read.
I also read a book about the Liverpool football club. Simply titled Liverpool FC by Matt Bougie.
GAMING STUFF
Last Friday, I played D&D with the Red 5 Tavern again. It was a fun session. Check out the live stream of that session on YouTube!
I also went to the game shop on Monday evening and played another session of Vast Grimm.
FOOD STUFF
I’d like to take a moment to talk about air fryers. Air fryers could very well, as far as kitchen appliances go, be the world’s greatest modern invention. Admittedly, I can’t cook worth a shit. I’m horrible in the kitchen. I can make cereal and toast and can, on occasion make scrambled eggs. But with the air fryer, a whole new world of making food has opened up to me. Most food on it these days has air fryer directions even so that makes it easy.
SPORTS STUFF
In case you are wondering or if you care, I did not watch the Super Bowl. It has nothing to do with Taylor Swift. And it has nothing to do with not liking either team. I just don’t really care about American football in years. I haven’t in years. Not my thing. Hockey season is still going on so that’s really the only thing sports-wise that I’ve been paying attention to.
On the subject of sports, I recently decided to start watching the English Premier League (soccer). I didn’t really have a dog in that fight per se so I wound up going to Wikipedia and looking at the list of teams that were in the EPL. I saw that Liverpool had a team and I’m a big fan of The Beatles so I decided to start following them. Earlier this week, I watched their most recent game on the Peacock app. Liverpool won the game 3-1 against Burnley.
STUFF I WATCHED
Madame Web - I watched this one on Wednesday evening. Don’t bother. That’s all I’m going to say.
Speaking of the Super Bowl…instead of watching that, I spent my Super Bowl Sunday continuing my rewatch of the Daredevil TV series. I finished up season one. I also started watching a show that a friend of mine has been trying to get me to watch for a good year. It is called Ted Lasso. I watched about 5 or 6 episodes. I have enjoyed it so far. I’ll probably keep watching.
TRACK OF THE WEEK
This week’s track comes from the new album from The Drowns (Blacked Out). It was just released today.
Yeah, that’s all I got. Have a good weekend and remember to BE MORE KIND!
