I forgot to do one of these last week for my quasi-normal Friday release. I didn’t really have much to talk about. And to be honest I really don’t have much to contribute this week either so this one will be short and sweet.
Since this week’s newsletter will be really short, in honor of Star Wars Day, here’s my Star Wars theatrical film rankings. That is, my personal preferences. Most of you will disagree with this ranking and that’s okay. You don’t have to like the films the same way that I do. Just enjoy them.
Rebel Rock Radio
This week, we celebrated #StarWarsDay. Our live stream just happened to be scheduled on May the 4th so we couldn’t pass up that opportunity. We were joined by Dragon Buddy of ATSW The Escape Pod and Blue to discuss the 40th anniversary re-release of Return of the Jedi, our first memories of Star Wars and some of our favorite Star Wars projects. We also played tunes from Faucheuse, Cold Expectations, and Brutal Youth. You can check out the replay of the livestream below:
Or you can check out the audio versions at our various audio platforms by checking out our biolink.
Return of the Jedi - I saw the 40th anniversary theater re-release of this one with my son and my friend Floyd. Watching this one made me rethink my thoughts on this episode in the Skywalker Saga. I knew I liked the movie of course. I mean, come on, it’s Star Wars! I just had forgotten how much I liked this one.
As you know (if you are a regular reader) I have been trying to get caught up on the “current” era of X-Men comics. That is, what is being referred to as the Krakoan era. Anyway, I’ve been reading quite a bit of those books the past couple of weeks. Here’s a list of what I’ve gotten through of that era so far:
House of X/Powers of X (Jonathan Hickman) - This was a re-read
X-Men Vol 1-3 (Hickman)
X of Swords (Hickman)
Hellfire Gala (Hickman)
S.W.O.R.D. Vol 1 (Al Ewing)
The Trial of Magnet (Leah Williams)
Inferno (Hickman)
X-Force Vol 1-3 (Benjamin Percy)
Marauders Vol 1-3 (Gerry Duggan)
Cable Vol 1 & 2 (Duggan)
Giant Size X-Men: Magneto (Hickman)
Way of X (Si Spurrier)
Onslaught Revelation (Spurrier)
X-Men Vol 1-3 (Duggan)
I still have a bit to go but so far I am enjoying most of what I have read. Some of I have liked more than others. My favorites so far are probably X-Force, Marauders, and the Duggan run of X-Men.
This week’s pull list included:
Joe Fixit #5
Star Wars #34
Darth Vader #33
Doctor Aphra #31
In honor of Star Wars Day, this week’s track comes from a band called Galactic Empire that does metal versions of Star Wars songs. Enjoy!
Have a good weekend and remember to BE MORE KIND!
