Hello readers! Princess Leia says hi.
Yeah, I usually do these on Friday but I didn’t get around to it. Also, this one is going to be a bit shorter than previous issues. I don’t really have much to talk about but I figured I’d still throw something out here for the hell of it.
Do you travel much? How many places have you lived? I tend to have this conversation fairly often on various social media sites for some reason. I have lived in 10 states and (besides the United States) 3 countries. And those are just the places that I’ve lived. I have done a lot of traveling. As far as the United States goes, it would be easier to me to come up with a list of states that I have NOT been in rather than how many I’ve been to. I have NOT been to Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, Nebraska, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, South Dakota, South Carolina, and Rhode Island.
I like to travel. I don’t do it nearly as much as I used to. Mostly because we are still trying to catch up financially from the move to and back from Michigan and can’t really afford to travel as much as we would like. But also, I don’t really like to drive as much as I used to. In any case, there are still a lot of places that I would like to visit. I really would like to go to Galaxy’s Edge in either California or Florida and I’d also like to visit some places in Europe that I have not been to previously. It could happen one of these days I hope.
What places have you traveled? Where would you like to visit that you’ve never been to before?
Over the past week, I have watched all 3 of the films in the Equalizer trilogy: The Equalizer (2014), The Equalizer 2 (2018), and The Equalizer 3 (2023). The first 2 I watched on a couple of different streaming services and watched the 3rd one in the theater. Overall, I enjoyed the series. I liked the first 2 more than the 3rd one. The 3rd had a better story (in my humble opinion) but I felt like it was rushed.
I also watched the murder mystery film, A Haunting in Venice in theater. It was decent. I was not aware until today that it was the 3rd part of a series which also included 2017s Murder on the Orient Express and 2022s Death on the Nile. It might be worth checking those 2 out.
Here is a list of the movies that are scheduled to be released in the last few months of 2023 that I plan to go watch:
The Creator
Killers of the Flower Moon
Five Nights at Freddy’s
The Marvels
The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes
Napoleon
Wonka
Earlier today, I finished listening to the audio book of Darth Bane: Rule of Two by Drew Karpyshyn. This is the 2nd book of the Darth Bane trilogy. I liked the book but I think I like the first part of the series more. I will probably start the 3rd part, Dynasty of Evil soon.
I’m going to try and read more Star Wars novels. After I’m done with the Darth Bane trilogy, I will either try to get caught up on the High Republic stuff (I am not optimistic about that happening) or read some more of the Legends stuff. I dunno. I just want to read more Star Wars stuff.
Oh, speaking of Star Wars reading, I recently subscribed to this service where I will start collecting the Star Wars encyclopedia set. So far, I have received the first 2 in the set: Darth Vader and Millennium Falcon. From what I understand, I will be getting a couple of books every month. I’ve started reading the Darth Vader one.
Also, I recently acquired a couple of other Star Wars books. First, Star Wars: Timelines. This book has been in my Amazon wish list for about a year. I finally decided to go ahead and get it. I haven’t started reading it but I’ve skimmed through the pages and it looks like it is going to be a good read. Second, a book that I have had on pre-order for quite a while, From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi. I haven’t started this one either. It’s the 3rd in the From a Certain Point of View series, an anthology series that tells the stories based in the timeline of the original trilogy from other character’s perspectives. I’m looking forward to jumping into this one.
Last week’s pull list is pretty short. That is what happens when you cut your pull down to only Star Wars comics. Anyway, just one this week.
Darth Vader #38
This week’s track is actually an entire album. The Castlerock, UK band Brand New Friend released a new album on Friday called Grandstand and I thought I’d share that. Enjoy.
That’s it for this week. Have a great week!
