The Flatulent Hamster Prophecy
Issue #147: "Just think; next time I shoot someone, I could be arrested."
Welcome to another Saturday edition of The Otter Limits.
How’s this working out? The change from Monday to Saturday that is.
It’s still Saturday morning. Getting close to noon. I’ve been up for a few hours. It’s my day off. I went out to breakfast earlier to a place called Boomerang Diner. Do you have these where you live? I can’t remember if this is a national franchise or a local one. There are several locations here in the Oklahoma City metro area but I personally have not seen any outside of the OKC area. I like it. I prefer it over other national diners like IHOP and Denny’s. At the very least, unlike some other national diner chains, their coffee doesn’t take like sweaty socks.
Hmmm…..what else has been going on this week? Not really a lot of anything really. I had a 3 day “weekend” this week due to the Juneneeth holiday. It was a nice time off from the hellscape that is the call center.
As far as new music releases are concerned, the summer drought continues. There really wasn’t much of anything of interest that was released yesterday. Here’s one album that I came across that was compelling:
Green Bay, Wisconsin born Walt Hamburger released …And Louie on Thousand Island Records.
In case you haven’t been paying attention, I posted a couple new music related posts earlier this week.
First, a new edition of Discograffiti where I covered the band ALL:
Discograffiti: ALL
Hey kids. Who’s ready for another edition of Discograffiti?!? I know I am. I’ve been working on this one, off and on, for about a week.
Yesterday, I posted a new Cover to Cover where I talked about the INXS song “Don’t Change” and several cover versions:
Cover to Cover: Don't Change
Greetings readers! It’s time for another edition of Cover to Cover. If you’re new here, this is a column where I talk about a particular song that has been covered by other artists and discuss which version I like better.
I’ve been doing a lot of reading this week. Mostly, I’ve been trying to get caught up on the current runs of the X titles that I was reading before I cut them from my reading list due to financial constraints. I am now caught up on X-Men (Jed MacKay) and Uncanny X-Men (Gail Simone). I still need to get caught up on Exceptional X-Men (Eve L. Ewing). I might give some of the other titles another try as well since a few of them have been marked for cancellation.
I also read Crossover Vol. 1: Kids Love Chains by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw. I read this one for this month’s comic book club.
Here are the comics that were on this week’s pull list (there aren’t many):
Doctor Aphra: Agent of Chaos #1 by Cherish Chen and Gabriel Guzman
X-Men #18 by Jed Mackay and Emilio Laiso
Emma Frost: The White Queen #1 by Amy Chu and Andrea De Vito
My theater trip this week was on Thursday to go see 28 Years Later. I liked it. It wasn’t a top 10 movie of the year contender or anything but it was a good movie trip.
Outside of streaming, I rewatched the 1988 Naked Gun movie. There is a new one coming out this summer with Liam Neeson playing the lead role. It is both a sequel to the original series and a soft reboot with Neeson playing the son of original Police Squad detective Frank Drebin. I’m looking forward to it. That series is stupid silly and I loved it.
Due to some bad weather in the Kansas and Oklahoma area, we did not do a live stream of Rebel Nerd Radio this week. For those of you that don’t know, my co-host JD is an electrical lineman so every time the weather gets nasty, he has to work some ungodly hours to keep things in Kansas up and running.
Spencer and I also did not record an episode of The Comic Den. We took Sunday off due to Father’s Day.
I did, however, record an episode of a new series we’re doing on Rebel Nerd Radio called X-Talk. For this first episode, Spencer joined me to discuss our favorite X-Men characters and some other general X-Men stuff.
Okay kids, that’s it for this week’s issue. Hope you have a great weekend.
Boomerang rules! I'm pretty sure they are an Oklahoma based company. I love their burgers.
