The Unpacking Continues

Hello faithful readers!

I’d like to start this issue out with a picture of Max and Poppy. They were in my office staring out the window of the door. Enjoy.

So the unpacking continues. There are a few less boxes sitting out in the garage but we still have a long way to go. I unpacked a bunch of boxes with my books and what not and got them put in my office which, naturally, leaves my office in a state of disorganization. I had bought a bookshelf and put it together but it was poorly made……very poorly made and I wound up taking it apart and returning it. I put it together per the instructions step by step and even anchored it to the wall but it still looked like it was about to fall over. So now I have stacks of books sitting in the corner of my office. Also, I’m not 100% that I have unpacked all of my books. I feel like there are a lot of others missing. Like I said, we still have a lot of boxes that have not yet been unpacked so maybe I’ll find them as we continue that process. Also, I decided against mounting my TV on the wall and wound up putting it on a TV stand. I decided not to mount it because the office itself is somewhat narrow and when I sit down on the loveseat, the wall where the TV sits is very close and I feel like I would be looking up all the time and could cause some neck strain. Also, although not intentional but by doing it this way, I will have more wall space available for posters or whatever else I want to put on the wall.

I did, however, get another bookshelf. This one was free. My mom had an extra one that she wasn’t using so she gave me this one.

I did another interview for The Bottom End, the column that I write for The Bad Copy. This time around, I interviewed Katie Karpowicz, the bass player for Airstream Futures. You can check out that interview here.

Also this week I got a wild hair to start playing Halo. I’m not sure why the urge came to me but since I have an Xbox and have the Game Pass, I’m able to play (as far as I can tell) all of the Halo games for free. So I started with the original, Halo: Combat Evolved. I had played this game before a long time ago when I had an Xbox 360 but for whatever reason never really got into it. I’m enjoying it so far though.

Rogue One Radio

This week, DJ and I talked about tabletop role playing games. We covered games such as Dungeons & Dragons, RIFTS, the various versions of Star Wars and more. And we played tunes from Bloodstrings, The Morning Line, and Gone Stereo! You can check out the replay of the live stream on YouTube below and below that is a link to the audio version on Spotify.

One Band Five Songs

Dave put out another new episode of OB5S this week. In this week’s episode, he tackled the career of UK punk troubadour Sam Russo. Check out that episode on Spotify below:

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania - I have seen this one twice already. I enjoyed it (obviously). Critics really crapped on it but I tend to ignore anything critics have to say about movies in general but especially what they have to say about comic book movies. I couldn't give the furry crack of a rat's behind what critics have to say about these types of movies. I really enjoyed [SPOILER ALERT] how much they focused on the characters of Janet Van Dyke and Kang the Conquerer. I thought that the actors’ performances, especially in these 2 roles, were magnificent. I can’t wait to see Jonathan Majors play the Kang character more.

I finished vol 3 of the Brian Michael Bendis’ Ultimate Spider-Man run and instead of moving on to volume 4 I read volume 1 of Dan Slott’s Fantastic Four run. For my next batch of reading, I will begin to try and get caught up with all of the newer stuff that I have bought from my local comic shop over the past couple of weeks.

This week’s new comics for me included:

  • Doctor Aphra #29

  • Superman #1

  • Local Man #1

  • Batman One Bad Day: Clayface

I wrote a review of Local Man #1 on my Goodreads account. You can read that here.

Instead of a track of the week, this week I’m posting a picture of my 10 most listened to artists of the week (according to Last.fm).

Have a great weekend and remember to BE MORE KIND!
