It’s grazing time for the babies!
Our cats mostly eat dry food. But once a day I grab a couple of paper plates and put some wet food on them and put them down on the kitchen floor. It is like a daily treat for them. And they all seem to know what time they are getting. It is always after I get off work. I leave my office and go out to the kitchen and give them their wet food. They love it. They even have their favorite flavors. Our cats are weird. But they’re cute and they’re ours.
Oh yeah! Hi readers. How’s your week been?
I want to start this new Q&A thingy where if you have any questions for me, either respond to the email that you get for this issue or email them directly to me at otter272@gmail.com and I will answer them here on the newsletter. It doesn’t matter what type of question it is: music, food, comic books, movies, whatever….just don’t be gross. Let the fun begin!
This week on Rebel Rock Radio we discussed the Disney Plus series The Book of Boba Fett and played tunes from Sedona Crystal Bitch, Resolutions, and Galactic Empire!
Justin and Dylan put out a new episode of Punk Lotto Pod. This week, they talked about the New Jersey band The Gaslight Anthem. Specifically, they talked about their 2008 album The ‘59 Sound.
Dave put out a new episode of One Band 5 Songs and covered one of my favorite bands, the Pixies.
Speaking of Dave, he and I recorded a new episode of Around the Ring. This time around, we did a review of the AEW PPV Double or Nothing and talked a little bit about this week’s episode of Dynamite.
Also in regards to podcasts, I decide to merge my Radio Unfriendly and Pure Rank podcasts into one Radio Unfriendly umbrella. For the Pure Rank episodes, I’m just using the titles (at least for now) Radio Unfriendly Presents Pure Rank….. I’ve got all of the episodes (Radio Unfriendly AND Pure Rank) loaded up on a Radio Unfriendly YouTube channel so you can listen to them via YouTube if that is your thing. Or if you prefer the Apple/Spotify/Amazon/iHeart thing, you can get to those links by going to https://bio.link/radiounfriendly I have a new episode of Pure Rank coming out fairly soon (I hope) and I actually hope to put a new episode of Radio Unfriendly out again sometime.
There weren’t really any new releases to speak of this week. Kind of a bummer. I’m usually excited about what new stuff has come out on Friday but this week there really was nothing all that interesting.
Here’s my top listened to artists for the week (according to Last.fm). I’m really kind of surprised that the Pixies didn’t wind up on this list due to the aforementioned episode of One Band 5 Songs.
This week’s comic book pull list consisted of Jango Fett #3, Fall of the House of X #5, Ultimate Spider-Man #5, and the X-Men Wedding Special. All good stuff.
Here is some other stuff that I read this week. Some re-reads and some I have not read before:
God Loves Man Kills by Chris Claremont
Gifted by Joss Whedon
The Walking Dead Vol 1: Days Gone Bye by Robert Kirkman
Last night, I started reading X-Men: Messiah Complex. I can’t remember whether or not I’ve read this before. Some of the issues comprising the collected trade I seem to remember but others I don’t.
Due to Memorial Day holiday family stuff, I completely forgot that it was Monday so I missed the Star Wars RPG at DM Daves. Bummer. I also found out later in the week that the GM that was running it is no longer employed by the store so somebody else took over the game and is actually running a completely new campaign.
Some of the movies that I watched include The Beach Boys documentary on Disney. Plus. If you are a fan of The Beach Boys or just a general fan of music, I highly suggest that you check this one out.
In the theater, I saw Furiosa. This is one of the movies I’ve been looking forward to this year. I am a fan of the Mad Max franchise. I wasn’t sure I was going to like Anna Taylor-Joys iteration of Imperator Furiosa (previously played by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road) but she really did a good job and I was overall not disappointed with this entry into the franchise. I hope to see more in the future.
Speaking of Mad Max: Fury Road, I re-watched that one on HBO Max this week.
The 1994 film The Crow had a theatrical re-release so I went and watched that on Wednesday. Such a great film and an amazing soundtrack.
Even though there weren’t any new album releases to speak of, the band MakeWar did release a new single so here’s that one for your track of the week.
That’s it for this week kids. Have a great weekend and remember to BE MORE KIND!
And don’t forget if you have any questions for the Q&A section, respond to this email or email them to me directly at otter272@gmail.com
