Issue #118: It Was Krypton That Made Me Superman, But It’s The Earth That Makes Me Human.
Welcome to another Monday readers!
No update on the job hunt. I’m still looking but nothing has come up. I went to a job fair last week that turned out to be kind of sad. There were only 5 companies there and most of them were for jobs that I am not qualified to do.
Not a whole heck of a lot happened last week. Spent most of the week searching for jobs, podcasting, reading comics books, and played a little Xbox (mostly trying to finish Arkham Knight).
There wasn’t much in the way of new releases last week. Well, not a lot that really jumped out at me. But here are a couple.
Body Count - Merciless
Kim Deal - Nobody Loves You More
Here are last week’s most listened to artists (according to Last.fm):
As far as listening to music went last week, I spent a lot of time listening to albums that I have compiled that had the potential to make it on my end of year list. Mostly just listening to the ones that I am pretty sure will make it to the final list and figuring out where they rank as compared to the others. This year’s list is probably going to be much bigger than previous year’s list. I am very likely to also put together an honorable mentions list.
Here is last week’s comic book pull list:
Ultimate Spider-Man #11
Exceptional X-Men #3
Spider-Gwen: The Ghost Spider #7
Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku - Republic Under Siege #1
Batman and Robin: Year One #2
Catwoman #70
Here are some of the other trade paperback/collected editions that I read last week:
Invincible Vol. 1: Family Matters by Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker. I read this one for the November comic book discussion.
Spider-Man: Reign by Kaare Andrews
Daredevil Vol. 1: Hell Breaks Loose by Saladin Ahmed and various artists
Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy Graphic Novel by Alessandro Ferrari and various artists
I went to the theater last Monday with my son-in-law and rewatched Venom: The Last Dance. Well, a rewatch for me. It was his first viewing.
Dune: Prophecy - I have watched the first two episodes. This show is really good in my opinion. Especially the visuals. Just stunning.
Superman & Lois - I had been watching this when it first came out but somewhere along the line just quit watching and got really behind. I got myself caught up this past week.
In addition to working on my aforementioned albums end of year list, I have also been looking over my end of year list for movies. That list is pretty solid I think. There are only a couple more movies coming out that year that I want to watch so either they will make that end of year list or they won’t. I don’t need to do much in the way of ranking that list goes because, like I said, the list is pretty solid.
Last week on Rebel Rock Radio we discussed the Lego Star Wars miniseries Rebuild the Galaxy.
There are also two new videos up on the Patreon.
First, is the early access episode of The Batcave. Blue and I talked about the first installment of the Arkham video game series, Arkham Asylum. If you are a patron, you can catch that early access episode here.
Secondly, is the new session of the patron exclusive Star Wars RPG that we run. You can check that out here.
This week’s track of the week is the title track of the new Body Count album.
And that is all I have for you this week. Have a great week and remember to be more kind!
I’m doing the same thing with 2024 albums - but everywhere I look there seems to be yet another to consider for my end of year list.
