This was a weird week. I don’t really have much to say on this intro thing this week. To be honest, I’m really only writing this so I can say that I bothered writing one. I’m still not 100% sure that I want to keep doing them.
PODCAST STUFF
On Rebel Rock Radio this week we talked about the Dark Knight Trilogy and played tunes from The Corps, Los Saints, and The Idoru.
We also have some more bonus content on the Patreon.
Also, my friend Dave and I revived our old wrestling podcast, Around the Ring. There has been some history there. He and I started this podcast back around 2013 (or 2014?) and after a while I left the podcast and he started doing it with random co-hosts until he started doing it regularly with Floyd Johnson (who is now doing the All Things Elite podcast). Eventually, Dave himself left the show and Floyd started doing it with random co-hosts until he stopped doing the podcast. My friend Justin and I picked it back up around 2021 and then stopped doing it in 2022.
Monday evening, Dave and I recorded an episode where we talked about the Dynamite PPV. You can listen to it by going to https://bio.link/aroundtheringok. Here’s a link to the episode on Apple Podcasts:
Speaking of Around the Ring, I realized that it had a YouTube channel but there was nothing there so I set up the RSS feed to send the new episodes over to YouTube. So the episodes are there too, although they are still just audio episodes. Check out the YouTube channel for Around the Ring here.
MUSIC STUFF
Get Fired played our show last Friday at Ncom Cyberhall in Norman, Oklahoma. It was okay. The main photo for this week is a picture from that show that my wife took.
Here is this week’s most listened to artists:
READING STUFF
This week’s comic book pull list consisted of 3 books:
Ultimate Spider-Man #4
Superior Spider-Man #6
Rise of the Powers of X #4
I’ve been behind on “current” comic book reading but I spent a lot of this week getting caught up with that. I’m now caught up with everything that I read except for Wonder Woman and Detective Comics. I also finished the Grant Morrison run of X-Men.
GAMING STUFF
I really have nothing. Once again, we did not have a Star Wars session scheduled at the store and I pretty much just kept playing Fallout 76. Real page turning stuff here isn’t it?
SPORTS STUFF
In soccer….Liverpool has dropped down to THIRD PLACE in the standings! They were briefly back on top (although tied with Arsenal) after hey won their match on Sunday against Fulham 3-1 but then turned around the lost to Everton on Wednesday 2-0. Very disappointing.
Also, I just realized that I don’t talk about hockey on here much anymore. Wait. Did I ever? Well, my favorite team (Chicago Blackhawks) have performed horribly this season. They are in last place. One of the other teams that I like however (Dallas Stars) has done really well and are in first place. Anyway, the playoffs for the Stanley Cup finals have begun. I might have more to talk about that next week. Or maybe I’ll forget.
In pro wrestling, I mentioned last week that I might wind up watching the AEW Dynasty PPV. Well, I did. Here are the results of that PPV:
Trent Beretta def Matt Sydal (pre-show match)
Shibata and Orange Cassidy def Shane Taylor Productions (pre-show match)
Bullet Club Gold def The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn (pre-show match) to unite the AEW Trios Championship and the Ring of Honor 6-Man Championship
Okada def Pac to retain Continental Championship
House of Black def Adam Copeland, Eddie Kingston, and Mark Briscoe
Willow def Julia Hart to win the TBS Championship
Roderick Strong def Kyle O’Reilly to retain International Championship
Chris Jericho def Hook to win the FTW Championship
Toni Storm def Thunder Rosa to retain the Women’s Championship
Will Ospreay def Bryan Danielson
The Young Bucks def FTR to win the vacant Tag Team Championship
Swerve Stickland def Samoa Joe to win the World Championship
I wasn’t happy with all of the results but overall it was a good PPV. In my humble opinion, the highlight of the night was the match between Ospreay and Danielson.
STUFF I WATCHED
I did not go see any movies this week. Very strange. In fact, the only movie that I watched this week was on Sunday when I watched the 1992 Charlie Chaplin biopic. I’m not sure why I had never watched it.
TRACK OF THE WEEK
This week’s song is a cover of the Bruce Springsteen/Patti Smith song “Because of the Night.” Good version.
That’s it for this week kids. Man, this issue was really boring. Oh well. Have a good weekend and remember to be more kind.
