Welcome readers!
Many years ago, I got rid of my entire collection of vinyl. I can’t remember exactly why I got rid of them but I’m 99% sure that it had something to do with a relocation. I was moving and wanted to pare down my possessions. If memory serves me (and it usually doesn’t) it was when I moved to Seattle in 2000. I got rid of a bunch of stuff. Vinyl, CDs, comic books, books, and much more. Even music equipment. At the time I had a Peavey 5150 half stack that I had purchased when I was living in Mississippi. So in recent years, I have begun to start building my vinyl collection back up. I still don’t have nearly as much as I used to but I’m working on it. In most cases, I don’t listen to them. To be honest, I listen to music mostly in digital formats. In fact, I don’t even own any CDs. Every once in a while we will throw a record on but for the most part, we just have a collection. Also as I look through my vinyl collection, there are some that I know are clearly mine and some that I know are clearly my wife’s but there are also quite a few where I have no idea. Who brought this into the marriage?
I’m not sure where I was going with this….I guess I’m just thinking that I need to get more vinyl. But also…why? Hmmm….I will ponder this more.
This week on Rebel Rock Radio, we did a recap of episode 4 of The Acolyte. The tunes we played on this episode came from Hotlung, The Darbs, and Bite the Hand.
I dropped a new episode of Pure Rank over the weekend. This time around, I talked about the Chicago-based band Screeching Weasel. You can check out that podcast on YouTube, Apple, Spotify, and some other platforms. You can find it by going to bio.link/radiounfriendly.
There were no new music releases to speak of this week and that is quite disappointing.
Also a slim week for comic books. This week’s pull list consisted of Ultimate Spider-Man #6 and Jango Fett #4.
Other than those, I’ve started a re-read of some Deadpool comics. I have finished Deadpool: The Circle Chase and I have started volume 1 of the complete Joe Kelly collection.
I’m still sort of reading that High Republic book The Fallen Star. I am taking a break because I don’t think my mind in the right place for reading/listening to an actual book right now.
In gaming news, I ran a session of D&D at DMDaves this past Wednesday. Well, actually, I didn’t run a game itself. I was teaching new players, all of them had NEVER played the game before. I taught them some game mechanics and walked them through created their characters.
As mentioned in last week’s issue, the new season of Fallout 76 dropped recently. I finally got around to playing that last weekend. It’s pretty cool. It is the first time that they have expanded the map so there are new locations on it and a new quest line (which, for me, is the most important thing).
On Father’s Day we went to an Italian restaurant. I ordered the lasagna because I’ve had a real hankering for lasagna for a few weeks (see issue #94). It was disappointing. Granted, it was probably a decent lasagna but I’m way too picky about lasagna (again, see previous issue).
I haven’t talked about sports at all lately (mostly because I just don’t feel like it) but I figured I’d give you a recap of what’s going on with things that I mildly pay attention to.
Liverpool wound up placing 3rd in the English Premier League standings behind 1st place Manchester City and 2nd place Arsenal. I guess 3rd is better than last. They had a rough go of it toward the end of the season. The next season starts in August and Liverpool will be starting it with a new manager. The Jurgen Klopp era has ended for Liverpool and their new manager will be Arne Slot.
As far as the White Sox go (that’s baseball if you don’t know), they are having one hell of a rough season. They are currently in last place and have the worst record so far this season. Bummer. On a somewhat brighter note, the other team that I follow (Seattle) is in first place in their division. Go Mariners!
Okay, that’s enough sports stuff.
The only movie that I watched in the theater this week was Inside Out 2. It was a good movie. The first one is my favorite Pixar movie and while the sequel wasn’t nearly as good as the first one, it was still a good movie.
I did a re-watch of The Boys season 3 and to prepare for the upcoming third movie, I re-watched Deadpool and Deadpool 2.
I also continued my watchthrough of Doctor Who (the season with the 9th doctor).
Since there were no new releases this week, this week’s track of the week is a cover. It is a cover of an INXS song by Face to Face. Enjoy.
That is it for this week folks. Have a good weekend and remember to be more kind!
