Welcome to another Monday readers.
Well, it’s March now. Oh wait, I guess it was March last week too. What can I say, it’s been a weird year. In more ways than one.
I am still not used to my new routine. I’ve been working from home for so long so going into an actual office for work is…well, let’s just say I’m still getting used to it. You would think I would be MORE used to going into an office considering almost all of my adult life I was going into work rather than working from home. I dunno. Point being, I’m not used this new routine where I have to drive into work. It has me somewhat exhausted. Probably more mentally than physically. Basically my routine now is drive to work, do the work thing, drive home, spend some time in my office looking for jobs. Wait Steve. You have a job. Why are you looking for jobs still? Well, I can’t remember if I mentioned this in a previous issue here but the job I have is not really the job I want. I am working in a call center. I have done this before. In fact, I spent a good 15 years of my life working in call centers. Before this one, I haven’t worked in a call center for about 10-ish years. I took the job because I wanted to get off unemployment and this job, at the very least, paid more than that. I just don’t like the fact that I’m reverting. Almost like I’m going back in time 10 years. After getting to a certain point in my life, I didn’t think I’d have to resort to this sort of work again. Hahahah! Nice try! Anyway, if it sounds like I’m complaining, I’m really not. Or at least, I’m trying not to. A job is a job and this will suffice until I find something else.
So without further ado…let’s get this train rolling!
Here are a few releases from last week that I enjoyed:
Former Husker Du alumni Bob Mould put out Here We Go Crazy via BMG. Check out the song “When Your Heart Is Broken.” It is a good one.
Berlin, Germany indie rock band The Roxies released Keep You Up At Night on Flight 13 Records.
London indie rock band The Tubs put out Cotton Crown on Trouble In Mind Records.
As promised in last week’s newsletter, here are my top 5 favorite albums that were released in February:
Guided By Voices - Universe Room
Horsegirl - Phonetics On and On
Bite Me Bambi - Eat This
Deep Sea Diver - Billboard Heart
Killing Daisies - Echoes of Tomorrow
Last week’s comic book pull list consisted of a whopping 2 titles!
Star Wars Jedi Knights #1
Batgirl #5
Here are my other comic book reads from last week:
Sex Criminals Vol. 1 by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky
Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters Vol. 1 by Keith Champagne
I went to the theater on Saturday and watched Mickey 17. It was good. Not the best thing I’ve seen this year but still a decent flick.
The premiere of the first 2 episodes of Daredevil: Born Again hit last week so I watched those. I’m looking forward to seeing more of this for sure.
On last week’s episode of Rebel Nerd Radio, JD & I discussed the 1986 cinematic masterpiece, Howard the Duck!
Also, the new episode of The Batcave is up on our YouTube channel now. Blue and I talked about the Batman story arc Hush.
I stumbled across this track from an album called Vamonos! that was released last year by a band called The Hellflowers.
Substack Shoutouts:
That’s it for this week. Hope you come back next time.
