Oklahoma, The World Cup, and More Fallout
Issue #36: Andor is over so what am I supposed to watch now?!?
As I mentioned in last week’s issue, we took a trip to Oklahoma over the Thanksgiving weekend. It was a nice trip. Got to eat some good food, hung out with family and did some exploring. I hit up a couple of comic book shops (see below) and a couple of gaming shops. Saw a movie with my son (also see below). The plane ride down was pretty uneventful. We flew out of Chicago (cheaper to drive to Chicago and fly out of there than it is to fly directly out of Grand Rapids) and had a layover in Dallas. On our way back though, which was direct to Chicago, we had a flight delay and didn’t even make it off the ground in Oklahoma City until 3 or 4 hours after our original departure time. That was irritating. Since we were supposed to be back in Chicago early in the morning on Monday, we were going to hang out there for a few hours but since we left late we didn’t have time to do so. Bummer. I really need to get down there and catch a Blackhawks game.
Speaking of sports ball…the FIFA World Cup has started up so I’ve been catching a couple of games here and there. Mostly just watching passively and keeping up to date with some of the scores. And speaking of soccer (football) I just recently discovered that the Oklahoma City (Energy) has been on hiatus due to stadium issues. Weird. So the only soccer team that Oklahoma has now is FC Tulsa.
So, if you’ve read this newsletter before, you might know that I’m a fan of the video game franchise Fallout. I haven’t really been playing 76 for a while. It just doesn’t seem all that fun anymore. Even the new updates aren’t worth going into in the game for. There are no new story lines so what’s the point? So recently, having realized that I have never finished the story line in Fallout 3, I decided to go back into that (since it’s free on Game Pass) and try to finish it. I finished it this week. Unfortunately, the Game Pass version does NOT include the DLCs so once I finished the game that was it, it was done. I might have to buy the DLCs sometime and try those out. In the meantime, after I was done with Fallout 3 I decided to jump into another play through of Fallout New Vegas. I have finished the story line of that one but I do really like that one. Not necessarily as much as I like Fallout 4 but I like it a lot nonetheless. Pretty cool story.
Here’s this week’s kitty picture. Poppy and Andor had to get fixed this week and Poppy had been trying to scratch and lick at her stitches so she was forced to wear the cone of shame.
Devotion - I saw the trailer for this one several months ago while I was watching something else so I have actually been looking forward to seeing this one. It is a historical drama so if you are a history buff this one might be worth a watch. It takes place during the Korean War.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special - This one doesn’t count as a movie but I thought I’d list it anyway. It was a fun watch. Possibly a little unnecessary but fun anyway.
Rogue One Radio
On this week’s episode, we covered the season one finale of Andor. We were joined by Melanie Marquita. We also had a discussion about Thanksgiving dinners and played tunes from The Costanzas, Primetime Failure, and The Flatliners. You can check it out on video below or at the various audio podcast platforms here.
The only item that came in on my pull list today was Darth Vader #29.
While I was down in Oklahoma over the Thanksgiving weekend, I stopped into a comic shop in Norman called Speeding Bullet. While there, I picked up a few comics. Riddler: Year One #1 by Paul Dano, Punisher #1 (2022) by Jason Aaron, and (also by Jason Aaron) Once Upon a Time at the End of the World #1.
I also started reading Once And Future Vol. 1: The King is Undead by Kieron Gillen. I’ve been putting that one off for a while.
For this week’s track, I am featuring the song that Spotify says that I’ve listened to the most this year.
Enjoy your weekend and remember to BE MORE KIND!
