Winter Weather Killing My Plans and a Fallout Podcast
Issue #35: That title is the best you are going to get
Happy Thanksgiving readers! Due to the holidays, I will be releasing this issue on Wednesday instead of the semi-normal Friday.
Unfortunately, due to northern weather/driving conditions, I did NOT make it to the aforementioned Methadones show in Chicago so that was a real bummer. This weekend, however, we are planning to make a trip down to Oklahoma for the Thanksgiving weekend to see family and friends. So far, the weather and driving conditions seem to be cooperating with us for this one.
It is getting about time to start compiling albums and movies for my annual best of the year lists. For my albums list, I’m thinking of doing something different this year. Every year, I do the typical these are the best 20, 30, etc…albums of the year. Those are pretty commonplace. Instead, I think I’m just going to compile a list of all of the albums that I really enjoyed this year and say a little something about them. No ranking. Just a list of some great albums. I’m still thinking it over. I could change my mind.
A Christmas Story Christmas - A Christmas Story is actually one of my favorite Christmas movies. I never got around to seeing any of the sequels that featured different time periods and different actors in the roles. This one actually starred the original actor as Ralphie and also starred some of the other original actors from the original. I liked it. Probably not as much as the original but I think it was a good follow up.
Samaritan - Honestly I wasn’t expected much out of this. It’s an Amazon Prime only release starring Sylvester Stallone. I saw a trailer for it on Amazon and it looks interesting because it was, while not based on a comic book, a comic book/super hero type movie. Interestingly, it was better than I expected.
The Menu - This movie was weird. Good, but weird. One of the best movies of the year it probably isn’t but worth checking out. Maybe wait for streaming though.
I also watched Black Panther: Wakanda Forever for the third time.
Rogue One Radio
On episode #109, Dragon Buddy of ATSW The Escape Pod dropped by and talked episode 11 of Andor with us. We also played tunes from MUTT, Rough Dreams, and Flight Attendant. Check out the replay of the YouTube live stream here or check out the audio on Spotify below that.
The Fallout Roundtable
I discovered this podcast earlier in the week. It is a podcast about the Fallout video game franchise. They cover various facets of the game. On the newest episode, which is the one that I listened to, the hosts discuss their ideas for their own factions. It was a lot of run and I can see that I will be checking out this podcast often. Check out the newest episode on Apple Podcast here:
This week’s pull list consisted of 2 comics: Star Wars Yoda #1 and Star Wars: Revelations #1.
I finished my re-read of the Thrawn trade paperback.
This week’s song is a cover of a 2000 song from The Offspring. The album was released on their album Conspiracy of One. I actually kind of like this cover better than the original.
Have a great holiday weekend, May the Force Be With You, and BE MORE KIND!
